Solanco Food Bank

Our local community provides for those in need

Emergency Food Bank

We strive to meet the needs of individuals and families in times of crisis, and help them get back on their feet. Individuals can use the food bank when in a crisis situation or once every 3 months, if the situation has not resolved.

Student WeekEnd Eating Program

SWEEP

For Students in Grades K-6

SWEEP is for students in grades K-6 who are eligible for the free breakfast / lunch program at a Solanco Elementary or Middle School. For more information, call the Guidance Office at your child’s school.

Heating Assistance

We will match a personal heating payment up to $350*

We offer a limited matching grant to qualified individuals

We will match one time, up to $350 what individuals put towards their own heating expenses (oil, propane, etc.). We do not match outside assistance (i.e. LIHEAP funds).

Crisis / Emergency Services

We network with local churches and organizations.

Referral Service / Church Connections

At times, we have financial resources available beyond food and heating assistance, so if you have a crisis or emergency that falls outside of these programs, still give us a call. We may be able to help!

A Solanco Family Life Network Member

We are members of the Solanco Family Life Network and work closely with many churches and organizations in Southern Lancaster County.

Food Drive Volunteers:

The first Saturday of every month, Ferguson and Hassler Supermarket hosts a food drive to benefit the Solanco Food Bank. Consider helping hand out flyers and receive donations at this food drive, or host your own food drive!

Darrenkamp’s and Mussers Markets frequently host drives at their stores…check them out!

Food Bank Volunteers:

Our Food Bank is almost entirely staffed with volunteers! They help pack orders, work in the office, tend the gardens, or help with food drives! We need volunteers at other times of the year too. Stop in, take a tour, and let us know how you might be interested in helping.

Food and Monetary Donations:

Most of the food we hand out is donated by churches and community members. Whatever food is not donated, we purchase locally using donated funds. It takes a lot of money to keep the Food Bank supplied adequately and we greatly appreciate your gifts.

Food donations can be dropped off any time Monday-Friday from 9 am – 4 pm in our drop off room on the side of the building. If you would like to donate perishable items, please bring them inside. Thank you!

If you would like to make a monetary donation, please make checks payable to Solanco Neighborhood Ministries

Checks can be dropped off at the food bank or mailed to:
