We are excited to highlight Jean Hopkins as our first Volunteer of the Month! Jean has been working with us here at Solanco Neighborhood Ministries for 8 years. She has actively participated in many roles as a volunteer and more recently has become our ‘Food Bank Coordinator’. This involves working in the back of the Food Bank, organizing, packing and restocking shelves as well as ordering products and assuring that we are fully supplied. You may also see Jean sitting behind the office desk meeting with our clients and answering phones.
The aspect of volunteering that Jean enjoys the most is that she is able to ‘see the happiness that people get from the services we provide’. Jean recalls a special experience she had while volunteering once when a child was adopted after a grandfather gave her a prayer request. Jean has a great heart for those that we serve as well as those we serve alongside. When Jean is not volunteering her time here, she likes to garden, cook, do housework, travel and spend time with her family.
We are so grateful for Jean’s hard work and time that she puts into organizing and maintaining the food bank as well as meeting with our clients. Thank you, Jean!
